Profile
Equipment and Research
The Essen Laboratory for Experimental Economics comprises 25 computer workstations including 12 soundproof cabins which are connected by a video and audio conferencing system. It is one of the biggest communication laboratories worldwide and allows us – among other things – to analyze the effect of different communication methods on economic choice behavior under controlled conditions.
History
Half a year after construction started, the Essen Laboratory for Experimental Economics was finished in December 2008. Still in the same month, a first pilot experiment was realized successfully by a seminar group. In January 2009 the elfe was opened in the presence of rector Prof. Dr. Ulrich Radtke, dean Prof. Dr. Michael Goedicke and Nobel Prize laureate Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Reinhard Selten. Furthermore it was introduced to the public on an open day.
